UGA Community Reacts to Campus Carry
Some members of the UGA community are not in support of the Campus Carry bill.
Matthew Greife, a sociology professor at UGA, doesn’t think there will be much of a change if the bill passes. According to his research, more students being armed does not mean they will know how to use the firearms. In the unlikely event of a mass shooting on campus, students with guns could do more harm than good. Greife believes that there’s no telling how a person will react in an emergency, and even trained professionals do not always reach their target.
Governor Nathan Deal is expected to make a decision on the bill in the next few days.
