Athens, GA – A dance group is looking to raise self esteem and confidence for women in Athens.

The Modern Pinups are a group of girls who dance to get in shape and raise body image.

“Female Impowerment, positive body image. Those are all our mottos and our goals” says Devyn Mullis

These young women are using their dance group as a way to combat bad health and stay positive about their body image.

“Me having a pencil-thin body image isn’t what its all about, it’s about who you are as a person” says Aubrey Daniel

An assistant professor of nutrition at the University of Georgia says groups like these have a real importance.

“I do think that it helps to increase self episy for improving physical acrtivity because when you’re having fun, and you’re not feeling like youre in a shell and then just having that comrodery with other women, to have a group of woman like that who are all confident, doesn’t matter what size you are, doesn’t reall matter how you move” says Caree Cotwright.

The Pin-Ups are currently raising money for The Palm House Recovery Center to help and sponser a women who is battling addiction.

“We are trying to raise $770 dollars which will sponsor her for two weeks in this program, give her housing, and help her just start her recovery process”

The girls can be seen performing downtown.
