Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton Opening

News

Braselton, Ga. — A new medical center in Northeast Georgia is scheduled to open Wednesday, April 1. This is the first hospital in the state of Georgia built from the ground up in 20 years. The most important element that the hospital will provide are the 24-hour, 7-day a week emergency services. Because the area has been underserved, this will be a big benefit to those who need critical care.

There will also be a landing pad for private helicopter companies to transport patients to and from the hospital. The flight crews for helicopter emergency services are specially trained in surgical crisis and special procedures that cannot be done on the ground.

Local community members attended the open house Sunday, March 29 to tour the new hospital. Doctors Alex Nguyen and Holt Harrison used this opportunity to spend a couple hours talking with visitors about which services the hospital will offer.

With 100 beds, seven operating rooms, two cath-labs and one intensive-care unit, hospital employees hope to serve their community in a way that has never been done before.
