News

A new cleaning service co-op is coming to Athens-Georgia, and it hopes to create living wage jobs. Living wage is the hourly rate that an individual must make if he or she is the sole provider of his or her family. While the federal minimum wage in 2013 was $7.25, someone in Athens-Clarke County would have to earn $21.60 an hour if he was providing for himself and two children. This is according to calculations done by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.10155245_708167822583762_552139343537546949_n
