A Mission of Justice
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the International Justice Mission is taking part by taking a stand for victims of abuse.
This student-led international organization exists to promote awareness of the injustices of sexual assault and modern-day slavery around the world. Their aim is to bring such prominent world issues to light in the Athens community.
Volunteer Austin Dobbs says the International Justice Mission “is fighting [modern slavery] on the international level and also on the domestic level.”
Members of the organization gather together to pass out flowers and accept donations to raise funds to work with lawyers and investigators to help rescue victims and restore them to safer environments.
The International Justice Mission will host a benefit concert “Stand for Freedom 2016” this Saturday, April 9 featuring guest artists Carly King and David Richt.
