Two UGA Athletes Arrested on Felony Weapons Charges
ATHENS, Ga.-
Two University of Georgia football players were arrested Monday night on Felony Weapons Charges.
According to the police report, Freshman Chad Clay and Julian Rochester were arrested for shooting a “BB gun” several times in McWhorter Hall room 422 where the two athletes live.
A Structural Maintenance Foreman, Samuel Cofer for McWhorter Hall alerted Student Affairs Specialist, Casey Lewis that while he was inside room 442 he saw what he described as a “BB/pellet” gun lying on a barstool.
Also stated in the police report were findings of several illegal substances. Two bottles of liquor that has been shot several times by the “BB gun” were found inside the trashcan.
In Chad Clay’s bathroom the following items were found:
-Red and clear glass bong with suspected marijuana remnants
-Red grinder
-Baggie of suspected marijuana shake. (Baggie did not contain a sufficient amount of marijuana for testing, therefore no charges were filed concerning this item.)
“I’m disappointed with the poor judgement of Julian and Chad. We expect full compliance with the policies of the University and of our football program from all our student-athletes. Information is sill being gathered but they will be disciplined in an appropriate manner,” said Head Coach Kirby Smart.
