Freezes a bad omen for Georgia fruit crops

A freeze warning in effect in most of Georgia overnight may not sound threatening, reporter Grace Holland says this freeze could have an impact on some of the state’s biggest crops.

Early estimates from the Georgia Department of Agriculture say that farmers may have lost 80 percent of their blueberry crop and 2/3 of their peach crop. That loss will effect Georgians as they go to buy fruit later this year–there just won’t be enough to go around from in-state farms.
