Incoming Storms to help Alleviate Drought

Bad news: severe storms, Good news: it’ll help with the drought.

According to the U.S. drought monitor, the Athens area has been in a moderate to severe drought for a few months now. The state of Georgia as a whole, especially the Northern half, has been in a drought for a similar amount of time as well.

But today those drought conditions could be significantly altered.

According to weatherunderground.com, Athens is projected to receive 1.2 inches of rain today. The University of Georgia has suffered in recent months due to drought conditions. The incoming storms may help alleviate that, and some of the beloved fountains on campus will be able to turn on again.
