Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

Chances are that if you went to the Chick-Fil-A on Barnett Shoals Road this week you probably saw some wacky things going on, whether it was window painting on Monday, scarfing down as many nuggets as possible at Tuesday’s food eating relay, or dropping people in a dunk tank Thursday evening. This week was the annual Chick-fil-anthropy week, where Chick-fil-a hosts week-long competitions amongst seven imageUGA philanthropies, with a $1000 donation awarded to whichever philanthropy raises the most money.

The most frenzied action of the week took place during the food eating relay, pictured to the left. Representatives from each philanthropy, UGA Relay for Life, UGA HEROs, UGA Miracle, Camp Kesem at UGA, UGA Special Olympics, CURE at UGA, and Autism UGA, had to catch five fries with their mouthes, chug a large sweet tea, eat 24 nuggets, and guzzle down a large milkshake. Once the dust had settled, Camp Kesem stood alone amongst the empty nugget boxes as the victorious philanthropy, strengthening their odds at winning the generous donation. The winner will be announced Friday morning on Chick-fil-A’s Instagram account.

The philanthropic spirit isn’t limited to just Chick-fil-a though, as Sigma Phi Epsilon also hosted a haunted house on Legion Field, the proceeds of which went towards UGA Miracle. UGA Miracle is also sponsoring a Trunk-or-Treat this Sunday at The Varsity on Broad Street and UGA Relay for Life is sponsoring an event on the lawn outside of the Brumby Residence Hall promoting breast cancer awareness.
